Closing the Education Gap for Rural Students (Taiwan)

The Project: Scholarships for disadvantaged students from rural areas

The Story: Due to family financial problems, numerous students from rural areas were found to be suffering educationally. To promote education as a key tool of self-empowerment, YP Foundation, through Taiwan sister organization CP Foundation, supported this long term project providing low-income families with the educational funding they need. We assisted families with students from elementary to high school age, providing a range of subsidies for tuition and a variety of critical expenses including books and stationery, uniforms, nutritional breakfasts and lunches, transportation, or accommodations.

The Results: Since the project began in 2011, more than 30,000 students have received educational funding support.
